A HOME

East Harlem has historically suffered from many issues, including having the highest rates of unemployment, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, homelessness, and violent crime in New York City. In 2015 the NGO Harlem RBI opened a multi-purpose building that includes Harlem RBI’s offices, DREAM Charter School, a new community center, 89 affordable housing units, and a beautiful public park. “A HOME” tells the story of how this ambitious architecture project has transformed the lives of many of the residents of East Harlem giving them a place that is fun, hopeful and that creates community.

A HOME was a finalist for the ILookUp Film Challenge and it is regionally recognized by The American Institute of Architects (AIA) where it has screen at many of their events.
